BETTER TOMORROW. TOGETHER – THURAYA PARTNER CONFERENCE 2018

Huge thanks to Thuraya for an invitation to their Partner Conference 2018 in Dubai. Beautiful surroundings and it’s always great to see their latest innovations.

A major annoucement at the show was the upcoming release of the Thuraya X5-Touch Satphone – finally a satphone with all the features you’ve come to expect from a modern smartphone! Touch screen, Android OS, rugged IP67 rating and true dual mode SIM. Scheduled for release later this year, it’ll be great to be able to offer our customers a satphone that doesn’t look like it was made in the 80’s!

With the Orion IP as a terminal option on our SCYTALE Maritime walk-on voice and data solution, it was great to see Thuraya continuing their development for satcom at sea solutions. It was interesting to hear everyone talking about what they felt customer priorities too. Lot’s of different suggestions, but given that your life often depends on it, number one was unsurprisingly – reliability.

Overall it was a great, well organised event in an amazing location, made better by Thuraya’s honest approach to the presentations and openess to questions and discussion about their technology.
